McOatmeal

Alright, I failed at updating a second time from Germany. Here's the gist. My great friend Scott Harbour came down and we met up with his friend Erica. Cooked a gigantic Thanksgiving dinner with Katy for her flatmates and friends (I think it was about 18 people total), and had a blast hiking, looking around for ultimate in Freiburg, drinking beer, and eating any wurst in sight.

Scott and I with some gluhwein in the Weinachtsmarkt.

After Scott and Erica left on their adventures to the east, my sister and I headed down to Switzerland for a weekend in the alps before I headed home. Needless to say, the scenery was spectacular, and I'll leave it to a few pictures to do the talking.

Picture for Mom with Jungfrau in the background.

Taken from somewhere in Interlaken.

Somewhere above Gimmelwald.

I have some updates on previous blogs. I've been informed (thanks Kaarin) that my post about mechanically separated chicken may be a bit wrong. Gotta check my sources better. Here's a link to another article on the matter (including video of the actual process - looks delicious), although I haven't really checked out this source either. This article claims that all companies don't use mechanically separated chicken and that it's preposterous that anyone ever soaks it in ammonia. I'd l like to try to follow the trail of a Chic-fil-a nugget before I make my final judgment.

In other news, McDonald's is apparently now selling oatmeal. I was sent this article (thanks Dana) , which I highly recommend - it's funny and informative - and did a bit of fact checking by perusing McDonald's website. They actually have a pretty cool applet called Bag a McMeal that lets you check out the nutritional info of a meal that you'd like to make. Unfortunately for them, it makes it pretty easy and amusing to compare the nutritional facts of their oatmeal and their cheeseburger.
